(If you don’t know the reference in the title of this newsletter edition, here you go. And for the record, I have nothing against pigeons. No poisoning, please.)
Today is the spring equinox in the northern hemisphere. Am I ready for spring or to write this newsletter? No. Absolutely not.
Part of my inner-debate goes something like this—
Me: Your newsletter is due.
Me: No way. I don’t have time.
Me: You’ll feel better if you get it done.
Me: No one will care.
Me: Someone will!
Me: I don’t have anything to say.
Me: Of course you do! You always find something.
This inner-chatter goes on until I finally force myself to ignore other demands and sit down to write. Perhaps you relate? In any case, thank you for being here and subscribing. It means a lot. Below is some art to say thank you. I haven’t made anything like it in a long time. If, however, it’s time for you to move on and unsubscribe, fair enough. I still hope you like the art!
Should I make more art like this?
Now, what can I share this time around?
Book Historia on Volvelles (I made some for Patrons!),
PBS Voices, and
Mina Le and her piece on booktok & the hotgirlification of reading.
Some of you have seen this already, but aside from volvelles, I made these too. I really don’t have time to make much, but what I do make, I make while watching Rawhide, Matlock, or Perry Mason with my dad.
As for a new story? No, y’all. I can’t write much while teaching or taking care of Dad. But I have a link to the first five parts of The Princess Detective. I’ve made them all public for a while, so please read! And if you like, join in to read more and get art!
This is all I can manage. Thanks for reading. Here are the usual links for subscribing, supporting, and shopping! May there be magic.
I love Tom Leherer and, from the ridiculous to the sublime, I love my volvelle!!!! I sent a message to Maniology begging for an artist collab between you and them. I would SO TOTALLY buy nail stamping plates with your designs on them! They say they have a backlog of suggestions, so they may not get around to mine but, if you're ever contacted by Maniology nail art about collaborating with them on plates, I sent 'em to you. HUGS
Thank you for posting the article with the Kelly Link interview. Have you read the new book yet?
